Diagnostics: reading what a code reader cannot
Warning light on? An intermittent fault no one can pin down? The Leaf hides most of its answers from generic tools.
Warning light on? An intermittent fault no one can pin down? We have genuine Nissan-level diagnostic tools plus EV-specific equipment, including battery-cell-level data, so we can read the systems a generic code reader can't see: motor, inverter, PDM, VCM, battery management and the 12V network.
That matters because on a Leaf the obvious symptom is often not the fault. A tired 12V battery lights the dash up with codes that have nothing to do with the real problem, a weak cell group shows up in behaviour long before it shows up on the dash, and a slow rapid charge can be normal heat management or an unbalanced pack.
We read the complete Enhanced Diagnostic Battery Report, state of health, then the individual cell-pair voltages, variances and cell resistance, and put it in front of you rather than summarising it. If the answer is firmware or pack work, we can arrange that through EVs Enhanced.
Frequently asked
Can a general workshop read Leaf fault codes?
A generic reader sees only part of the picture. Motor, inverter, PDM, VCM and battery management data need Nissan-level and EV-specific tools.
What is the Enhanced Diagnostic Battery Report?
The full pack read: state of health, individual cell-pair voltages, variances and cell resistance, printed for you rather than summarised.
My dash is full of warning lights, where do you start?
The 12V battery. It is the most common reason a Leaf throws faults that have nothing to do with the real problem.
